Captain America: Civil War Official Artwork and Teams Revealed!

But where is Scarlet Witch? Where is Spider-Man?

So out of absolutely nowhere the official first round of promotional artwork for Captain America: Civil War has dropped online. The official synopsis for the film is as follows: “Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Join me to analyse and scrutinize every juicy detail!
TEAM IRON MAN

It's confirmed, and the rumours were pretty much spot on! Black Panther, though apparently initially torn on whose side to join as revealed at last year's El Capitan theatre presentation by Kevin Feige, has sided with Tony Stark in the ideological war that tears the Avengers apart.

Black Widow once again seems to be put in a precarious position. Ripped apart from her supposed best friends Hawkeye and Captain America, Natalia Romanoff sides with Iron Man - perhaps an ode to the way in which she was first introduced to the world in Iron Man 2.

Iron Man has a sleeker new suit which is much more body hugging and seems to have lights in any and every crevice available. Vision also looks incredible and War Machine looks like he's had an upgrade when it comes to ammunition and war power. The Black Panther art appears to be exactly the same as the art in which he was first revealed at last year's aforementioned El Capitan presentation, but still looks just as cool.

TEAM CAPTAIN AMERICA

This is my team, my side that I'll be choosing. The biggest surprise is the surprise inclusion of ex-SHIELD Agent 13 (Peggy Carter's niece Sharon Carter first introduced in Cap 2: The Winter Soldier). She looks cool and it's interesting to have her in the group.

Another awesome tidbit is the inclusion of Hawkeye (whose new suit looks bloody awesome by the way) and his new found friendship with Ant-Man. In the comics there are some awesome moments where he holds onto an arrow and Hawkeye fires him through bullet holes to reach places the real-sized allies cant - so let's hope we get a glimpse of that here too!

Bucky seems to look less gruff and due to the post-credits scene in Ant-Man it is clear that he's no longer out to murder Cap and his friends. Falcon looks awesome as well, donning his Ant-Man garb. Another interesting piece is the quinjet in the background. It doesn't seem to be the one the Hulk has disappeared in in Age of Ultron, but seems to look more like a Falcon in design. It also is being piloted by someone on Cap's side (perhaps Fury, Hill or Scarlet Witch) as evidenced by its presence only near Cap and his team.

The penultimate piece of artwork depicts a scene very similar to the original artwork of the Civil War comic book storyline. It depicts a massive explosion in the background of the fighters while our teams face off against each other. It all looks pretty spectacular to be honest.

We have to wonder though, where on Earth are Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch? While we're all aware that Spider-Man may have a smaller role than expected in his introduction to Civil War, it would have been cool to see the reveal of one of his new suits in the film. Moreover, we know Scarlet Witch is definitely in the film so either she doesn't have a definitive side in the fight (she may choose to stay out of it), she may have been taken to prison in the movie's version of Prison 42, or she may have been killed in the event that sparked the war off. I hope she doesn't die though, as she is an awesome character with visually stunning powers. Moreover, in the MCU we need as many awesome women as we can get our hands on!]

Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch filming for Civil War

Finally we see the artwork of Cap and Tony facing off in the rain, one on one. This is nothing majorly new as we have seen this leaked earlier in the year by Heroic Hollywood, but it looks even better in the crisp HD of its official release and gets us nothing but excited for the film's 2016 release!

So, whose team are you on? What's your favourite piece of artwork? And what do you think has happened to our dear Scarlet Witch? Are disappointed we still haven't seen Spidey? Let us know in the comments below and for more Civil War news and theories click here.
