Why a Feminist Ghostbusters Isn't a Bad Thing...

In the words of Laurie Penny, you know your masculinity is fragile when your whole sense of self-worth is based on an all-female Ghostbusters...

In Summer 2016, Paul Feig will bring us a reboot of the beloved Ghostbusters franchise starring 'Bridesmaids' star Kristen Wiig, 'Spy' star Melissa McCarthy and SNL's Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Despite the fact that we will be gifted with an updated version of a loose story we all know and love, many have reacted badly to the green-lighting of this project. Misogynists have wriggled out of the woodwork to rain their disgust over our twitter feeds, many feeling that the all-female aspect of the film is unnecessary and male-bashing. I, however, would like to offer my wholly insignificant opinion as to why 2016's Ghostbusters can only be a good thing...

Marvel's Jessica Jones Season 1 Review

Jessica Jones: A Jewel of a series...

In April 2015 Marvel Studios released their first Netflix series ‘Daredevil’ onto the popular streaming service. Around the world people were gripped by the more mature and grittier presentation of a Marvel superhero, and according to the officially released Netflix viewing figures, ‘Daredevil’ series 1 was Netflix’s most viewed original project to date, toppling the previous record held by ‘House of Cards’ series 3.

After this, then, people began to wonder what was next in the Netflix Marvel pipeline – the answer? Jessica Jones. As the chilling ad-campaign aptly stated, it really is time the world knew her name. Not only is Jones an incredible character, but the series tackles very real issues women face day to day in a way that doesn’t exclude male viewers. Introduced in Brian Michael Bendis’ comic book run ‘Alias’, Jones makes her on-screen debut as an alcoholic and self-employed private investigator struggling with PTSD after a horrific encounter with the vile Kilgrave (played by Doctor Who’s David Tennant).

Captain America: Civil War Teams Revealed

D23 revealed some amazing new Civil War information, further proving why it should be titled Avengers 3...

This weekend just gone played host to Disney's annual D23 convention, at which exciting new information, stills and concept art is released for their upcoming properties. Arguably one of the most exciting reveals by the house of mouse was the first look at Marvel's Captain America: Civil War. The film explores an ideological war that tears the Avengers in half. Avengers: Age of Ultron Spoiler Discussion

SPOILERS ENSUE! I REPEAT: SPOILERS ENSUE!

There's so much to discuss in this spoiler discussion...

So Age of Ultron is out in a fair few countries at the time of writing (April 25th 2015 incase you were wondering). Unfortunately for some *coughsAMERICAcoughs* there's just a little bit longer left to wait. Despite this, I won't be going light on the spoilers, and will literally RUIN this movie going experience for you if you read this. Now, unless you don't mind already knowing the biggest plot-points and funniest gags in Avengers: Age of Ultron, I suggest you all skedaddle. Yes, you too. Right, are they gone? Good. Lets discuss...

Avengers: Age Of Ultron Non-Spoiler Review

They did it. They really did it.

The original team return with a few new additions in this billion dollar sequel...

In 2008, the newly established Marvel Studios, led by Kevin Feige, released Iron Man. The film was a massive risk, attempting to set up an entire stable cinematic universe for the Marvel menagerie of characters while resting on the capabilities of Robert Downey Jr (a former superstar who had fallen from grace) and Jon Favreau to create a realistic yet fun movie. Now, seven years on and with ten films in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) to precede it, Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron is released to audiences. The big question on everyone's lips is: is it as good as the first one? To be completely honest, the answer to this question is more complex than on the surface it may seem, so join me in this review to find out my spoiler-free thoughts on summer's most anticipated film.

Into The Woods Movie Review

Into the Cinema, it's time to go, I hate to leave, I have to though, Into the Woods is out right now and it's an awesome movie...

Rob Marshall returns to the director's chair after phenomenal success with Chicago and Annie (1999) and teams up with the producer of one of the longest running Broadway shows ever: Wicked. Phenomenal talent Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp, James Corden and Chris Pine have all been attracted to the project which has taken a staggering 29 years to arrive on the silver screen. All things considered, Into the Woods really should be a solid musical adaptation, and it really is - but is it a good movie?

Black Widow Confirmed for Captain America: Civil War

Like a Black Widow baby...

Scarlet Johansson will reprise her role as beloved Super Spy: Black Widow in Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron out Summer 2015, but it has recently been announced that she will also return for Captain America: Civil War in 2016 - a surely epic take on the 2006 comic book saga that saw the Marvel Universe torn in half as the two biggest titans - Iron Man and Captain America - spar in a deadly ideological war. However, what does this mean for the MCU in the future
